Falköping Municipality (called Falköpings kommun in Swedish) is a local government area, or municipality, in western Sweden. It is located in Västra Götaland County. The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Falköping.
A municipality is like a local government that manages things for the people living in its area. This includes schools, roads, and other public services. The Falköping Municipality we see today was formed by joining together many smaller local areas. This happened in two main steps: first in 1952, and then again between 1971 and 1974. In 1971, the town of Falköping became its own municipality, and a few years later, it joined with the areas around it.
