The Fall River is a cool river in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It flows through Frontenac County and Lanark County. This river is part of a bigger water system that eventually leads to the Ottawa River. It starts at Sharbot Lake and flows into the Mississippi River. People named it "Fall River" a long time ago, in the late 1600s.

Where the Fall River Flows

The Fall River begins at Sharbot Lake in Central Frontenac, Frontenac County. Many small springs also feed it. The river gently winds its way along the Trans Canada Trail.

It then flows into Tay Valley, which is in Lanark County. The river passes through a small community called Maberly. It also fills up Bennett Lake, which is about 20 kilometers long.

After Bennett Lake, the river flows by the community of Fallbrook. Finally, about 50 kilometers from where it started, the Fall River joins the Mississippi River.

Animals and Plants of the Fall River

The Fall River is surrounded by thick forests. These forests and the river itself are home to many different kinds of wildlife.

You can find various types of fish swimming in the water. Turtles often bask in the sun along the riverbanks. If you're lucky, you might spot graceful Blue Herons wading in the shallow parts, looking for food. Beavers and otters also live here, building their homes and playing in the water.

Smaller Streams Joining the River

A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger river. The Fall River has a couple of these smaller streams that add water to it.
