Chronology
Preceded by Fantastic Four (1994 TV series)

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes is an exciting animated TV show. It's based on the famous Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four comic book series. This show was the fourth time the Fantastic Four team appeared in animation. It mixes two types of animation: traditional 2D art and 3D computer graphics. The show was made by a French company called MoonScoop Group. It was a team effort with M6 in France and Cartoon Network Europe. In the huge world of Marvel Comics, this version of the Fantastic Four lives in a universe called Earth-135263.

Airing the Show

In the United States, the show's schedule on Cartoon Network was a bit tricky. It first started on September 2, 2006, as part of the Toonami block. However, only eight of the 26 episodes were shown before it was taken off the air.

It came back on June 9, 2007, just before the movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was released. During this second run, only nine more episodes aired. This meant nine episodes were never shown on Cartoon Network in the USA. The show also appeared briefly on Boomerang. Later, in 2009, the final episodes were shown on Nicktoons. The series was made for widescreen TVs, but it was often shown with black bars on top and bottom.

What's the Story About?

World's Greatest Heroes tells its own unique story of the Fantastic Four. It's not directly connected to any of the older Fantastic Four shows. It shows how the team got their powers and introduces their many enemies.

Unlike the 1994 Fantastic Four cartoon, which mostly retold old comic book stories, World's Greatest Heroes features mostly new adventures. However, it still uses ideas and characters from different Fantastic Four comic books.
