About Fares Karam
Fares Karam was born in Jezzine, a town in Southern Lebanon. He grew up in a Maronite family. His father was a farmer, and his mother worked as a teacher in their village school. Fares has one sister named Madonna, and they are very close. Growing up in the mountains of Lebanon later inspired his song "Jabali" (My Mountain).
Fares Karam became famous in the 1990s. In 1996, he took part in a Lebanese talent show called Studio El Fan. He won the gold medal on the show, which helped start his music career. After that, he signed with Rotana Records, a big music company. His music style is closely linked to Dabke. When he performs live, his band often uses a large drum called a tabl for many of his songs.
