Farhad Majidi, born on June 3, 1976, is a famous Iranian football coach and former player. He was known for his amazing skills as an attacking midfielder and striker. Farhad mostly played for Esteghlal during his playing days, becoming a true legend there.
He also played for clubs in Austria, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Farhad was a key player for the Iran national football team from 1996 to 2011. In 2010, he was even nominated for the Asian Footballer of the Year award. Fans often called him "King Farhad" because he scored many important goals, especially in big matches like the Tehran Derby. He most recently managed Al Bataeh Club.

Playing Career Highlights
Farhad Majidi started his football journey at Bahman club. His great performances soon caught the eye of Esteghlal Tehran, one of Iran's biggest clubs. After playing for Esteghlal for a few seasons, he even had a short loan spell with Rapid Wien in Austria.
Adventures in the UAE
After his time in Austria, Farhad moved to the UAE to play for Al-Wasl. He was a fantastic goal scorer there, netting over 100 goals during his five years with the club. He was a top player in the UAE League.
One of the most exciting parts of his career was a loan to Al-Ain. Farhad was the hero in the 2002–03 AFC Champions League semi-final. His crucial goal helped Al Ain reach the final, and they went on to win the trophy for the first time ever! This was a huge achievement.
After Al Wasl, he played for other UAE clubs like Al-Nasr and Al-Ahli.
Returning to Esteghlal
In 2007, Farhad returned to his beloved Esteghlal Tehran. He quickly became a fan favorite again. He helped the team win the Persian Gulf Pro League in the 2008–09 season. He was also one of the top scorers in the AFC Champions League during the 2009–10 season.
In 2011, he briefly left Esteghlal to play for Al Gharrafa in Qatar. He retired from football in 2012, but the fans and club asked him to come back. He rejoined Esteghlal and helped them win another league title in 2012–13. Farhad finally retired for good in October 2013.
International Journey with Iran
Farhad Majidi first played for the Iran national football team in December 1996. This was during the 1996 Asian Cup. He played for the national team until 2011, making 45 appearances and scoring 10 goals.
He was a respected player for Iran for many years. Even though he didn't always start, he was an important part of the team. Fans especially loved him and Ali Karimi. Farhad announced his retirement from international football in September 2011.
Life as a Coach
After his amazing playing career, Farhad Majidi decided to become a coach. He started as an assistant coach for Espanyol-U16 and then for Esteghlal.
He took on the role of interim coach for Esteghlal in 2019. Later, he coached the Iran U23 squad. Farhad returned to coach Esteghlal again in 2020 and then from 2021 to 2022. During his time as head coach, he led Esteghlal to win the Persian Gulf Pro League in the 2021–22 season, which was a huge success! He also coached Al-Ittihad Kalba and is now coaching Al Bataeh.
