Farida Nana Efua Bedwei, born on April 6, 1979, is a talented software engineer from Ghana. She is also a co-founder of Logiciel, a company that creates financial technology (fin-tech) solutions in Ghana. Farida is well-known for her skills in designing software and creating mobile apps, especially for banks.

Farida Bedwei's Early Life

Farida was born in Lagos, Nigeria. When she was young, her family lived in three different countries: Dominica, Grenada, and the United Kingdom. This was because of her father's job with the United Nations. When Farida was one year old, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. This condition affects how a person moves and balances. Her family moved to Ghana when she was nine. She was taught at home until she was 12 years old.

Farida Bedwei's Education

Farida was homeschooled until she was 12. Then, she went to a government school in Ghana. When she was 15, her parents noticed her strong interest in computers. They enrolled her in a one-year computer course. This course was at the St. Michael information technology centre. She was one of the youngest students there and got to skip high school.

Later, from 2004 to 2005, she earned a degree in Computer Science. This was from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. In 2009, she also got a certificate in Project Management. This certificate was from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Farida Bedwei's Career Journey

Farida Bedwei started her career as a software developer. She worked at Soft Company Ltd, which is now called the Softtribe. After that, she moved to Rancard Solutions Ltd. There, she grew from a solutions analyst to a Senior Software Architect. She worked there from 2001 to 2010.

At Rancard Solutions, Farida helped develop and maintain mobile platforms. One of her big achievements was creating a content management system. This system was for the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice. She also developed PayBureau. This was a web-based payroll application for KPMG Accra. It helped manage payroll services for many companies at once.

In 2010, Bedwei joined G-Life Microfinance. She was in charge of designing and putting new products into action. In April 2011, she left to start her own company. This company is Logiciel Ltd., located in Accra, Ghana. She is a co-founder and the chief technology officer there. At Logiciel Ltd., she led the creation of gKudi. This is a web-based banking software for micro-finance companies. It is used by 130 micro-finance institutions across Ghana.

In 2015, Farida wrote her first book. It is a short autobiography called The Definition of a Miracle. She has received many awards and appointments since then. One important appointment was to the Board of Ghana's National Communication Authority.

Farida also created a superhero with cerebral palsy. Her comic character is named Karmzah. Karmzah gets her special powers from the crutches she uses.

As of April 2022, Farida Bedwei works as a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft. She is involved in developing Metaverse technologies there.
