Fatima Lodhi (born September 29, 1989) is a brave Pakistani social activist. She works to make the world a fairer place for everyone. Fatima Lodhi started her special campaign called Dark is Divine in 2013. This campaign fights against something called colourism. Colourism is when people are judged or treated differently because of their skin color. Fatima believes that all skin colors are beautiful, for both girls and boys. Because of her important work, she received the Woman of Excellence award in 2014. She also got the Young Woman Leadership Award in 2015.
Early Life and School
Fatima Lodhi was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She grew up in Islamabad. Her grandfather, Abbas Khan Lodhi, was a famous cricketer. He played for All India and helped choose players for Karachi teams.
Fatima went to St. Patrick's School in Karachi for her early education. She finished high school at The City School. Later, she earned a bachelor's degree in International Relations from SZABIST in Islamabad. She also took special courses from the United States Institute of Peace and the National Association of Social Workers.
Making a Difference
Fatima Lodhi started working as a social activist in 2008. A social activist is someone who works to solve problems in society. She helped lead workshops for the British Council. These workshops taught about "inclusive education," which means making schools welcoming for all students. She also worked with a group called "We Can End Violence Against Women." In 2011, she joined Rotaract, a club for young people who want to help their communities.
Sharing Her Message
Fatima Lodhi is also a motivational speaker. This means she gives talks to inspire people. She has spoken at many events in Pakistan and other countries. In 2015, she gave a TEDx talk at the University of Gujrat. TEDx talks are special events where people share "ideas worth spreading." She also led a discussion at the International Women Empowerment Conference. In 2022, she was a guest on a TV show called Rising Pakistan. She spoke on World Day of Acceptance, which is about accepting everyone for who they are.
