Fay, Missouri facts for kids
Fay is a small, historic place in southeastern Ozark County, Missouri. It's not a city or town with its own government, but rather a community located in the beautiful Ozarks region of the south-central United States.
You can find Fay along Missouri Route J, which is about 2.5 miles south of U.S. Route 160. A special place called the Fay Cemetery is just west of Route J. It's also north of where two creeks, Lick Creek and Sweeten Creek, meet.
What is the History of Fay?
Fay might be small today, but it has a history! A post office was opened in Fay way back in 1892. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1915.
Besides the post office, the community also had its own school. This school was named after the Fay family, who were early settlers in the area. They helped build the community and gave it its name.
