Fedor Adrianovich Jeftichew (born in 1868) was a famous Russian performer. People knew him as Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy. He had a special condition that made hair grow all over his face and body. Fedor traveled around Europe with his father, who also had a lot of hair. Later, a famous showman named P. T. Barnum brought Fedor to America in 1884.

About Fedor Jeftichew

Fedor Jeftichew was born in 1868 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He had a rare condition called hypertrichosis. This condition causes unusual hair growth all over the body. Fedor's father, Adrian, also had this condition. Adrian performed in circuses in France.

In 1873, Fedor's father, Adrian, was known as the 'Wild Man from the Kostroma Forest'. He performed in shows across Europe, and Fedor joined him. Ten years later, in 1884, Fedor was 16 years old. A person working for P. T. Barnum found him. Barnum was a very famous showman in America. Fedor then joined Barnum's show in America and became known as 'Jo-Jo The Dog-Faced Boy'.

Jo-Jo's Show Story

P. T. Barnum was very good at creating exciting stories for his performers. He made up a story about Fedor and his father. Barnum said a hunter in Kostroma found them living in a cave. He described Fedor's father, Adrian, as a wild person who could not be taught manners.

Barnum also made sure to point out how much Fedor looked like a dog. He told the audience that when Fedor got upset, he would bark and growl. During the show, Fedor would act this out for the crowd.

Fedor was very smart. He could speak Russian, German, and English. He traveled and performed in many places across Europe and the United States.

Fedor died on January 31, 1904, in Salonica, Greece. He passed away from a lung illness called pneumonia.
