Musical Journey

Starting Out Young

Felix Stallings Jr. grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He became interested in the new house music scene at a young age. When he was 15, he met DJ Pierre, a pioneer of acid house music. With Pierre's help, Felix released his first song, "Phantasy Girl," in 1987.

In the same year, Felix went to Alabama State University. He studied media and communication there. During this time, he learned about different musicians like Prince and A Tribe Called Quest. He also developed an interest in hip hop and R&B music.

Becoming Popular in the 1990s

After college, Felix released "Thee Dawn." This song helped him become popular in Europe. In the years that followed, he released more songs like "By Dawn's Early Light." He also used another name, Aphrohead, for some of his music.

Felix started his own record label called Radikal Fear Records. This label released music from other artists and from Felix himself. In 1995, he released his first album, Alone in the Dark. He also put out a compilation album called The Chicago All Stars.

Mainstream Success in the 2000s

In 2001, Felix released the album Kittenz and Thee Glitz. This album helped him become known to a wider audience. He even won an award for Best Album that year. Because of his growing fame, many famous artists asked him to create remixes of their songs. He worked with stars like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Kylie Minogue.

His next big album, Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever, came out in 2004. Felix also worked with P Diddy on a song called "Jack U." They became good friends.
