Felix da Housecat (born Felix Stallings Jr. on August 25, 1971) is a famous American DJ and music producer. He is considered one of the most important artists from the "second wave" of Chicago house music, a style that started in his hometown.

Musical Career

Getting Started in Chicago

Felix Stallings Jr. grew up in Chicago and became interested in the city's new house music scene when he was young. In the mid-1980s, when he was only 15, he met the famous acid house musician DJ Pierre. Acid house is a type of house music known for its deep basslines and squelchy sounds.

With DJ Pierre's help, Felix released his first song, "Phantasy Girl," in 1987. Around the same time, he went to college to study media. There, he learned about other kinds of music, like the songs of Prince and hip hop groups such as A Tribe Called Quest.

In the 1990s, Felix's music became very popular in Europe. He released more songs and started his own record label called Radikal Fear Records. This label helped other DJs from Chicago share their music with the world.

Rise to Fame

In 2001, Felix released the album Kittenz and Thee Glitz. This album was a huge success and made him famous around the world. It featured collaborations with other artists like Miss Kittin and Tommie Sunshine. The album was so popular that it won "Best Album" at the Muzik Awards.

This success led to big opportunities. Felix was asked to create remixes for pop superstars like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Kylie Minogue. A remix is when a producer takes a song and creates a new version of it, often for dancing.

In 2004, he released another popular album called Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever. He also worked with the famous rapper and producer P Diddy on a song.
