Fernandus Lamar Vinson, born on November 3, 1968, is a former American professional football player. He played as a safety for four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals are a team in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Bengals in the 1991 NFL Draft. Before that, he played college football at North Carolina State University.

Growing Up in Alabama
Fernandus Vinson was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He went to George Washington Carver High School in Montgomery.
Playing for NC State
He played football for the North Carolina State Wolfpack for four years. This was from 1987 to 1990. He was recognized as one of the best players in his college conference. He was named second-team All-ACC in both 1989 and 1990.
Professional Football Career
Joining the Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals picked Vinson in the 1991 NFL Draft. This is where professional teams choose new players. He was the 184th player chosen overall. He officially joined the team in July.
Playing in the NFL
Vinson played in 13 games for the Bengals in 1991. He made six tackles that season. In 1992, he played in 13 more games. He started four of those games. He had 21 tackles and one sack. He also scored a touchdown by returning a fumbled ball 22 yards.
In 1993, Vinson played in all 16 games for the Bengals. He started seven of them. He had 32 tackles and recovered three fumbles. He also forced two fumbles from other players. He played in all 16 games again in 1994. He started four games that year. He recorded 29 solo tackles and forced another fumble. After the 1994 season, he became a free agent. This means he was free to sign with any team.
