History of Ferry Township
Ferry Township was officially started in 1869. It was named after Thomas W. Ferry, an important person in the United States government. He served as a representative and later as a senator for Michigan.
Schools in Ferry Township
For many years, Ferry Township had its own schools called Ferry Community Schools. However, in 1995, the school system changed. All students from Ferry Township then became part of the Shelby Public Schools district.
The Ferry Elementary school building closed after the 2006–2007 school year. Students who used to go there were sent to other elementary schools within the Shelby Public School district.
