Ffeil (which means "File" in Welsh) is a TV news show made for kids and young people. It's in the Welsh language and is created by BBC Cymru Wales for the TV channel S4C.

About Ffeil: Your Daily News Show

Ffeil started way back in 1995. At first, it was on three times a week for 15 minutes. Later, it became a live show, on every weekday afternoon.

The show used to be broadcast from BBC's Broadcasting House in Llandaff, Cardiff. It was made in Studio C2, which was a pretty big studio!

In 2012, Ffeil got a new look. It became part of S4C's Stwnsh block of shows. It moved to a smaller studio and was on at 5:00 PM during school terms.

Since September 2020, Ffeil has been made at the New Broadcasting House in Cardiff. It uses a special VR green-screen studio. You can watch it on Mondays to Fridays at 5:55 PM.

How Ffeil is Different

Many people compare Ffeil to Newsround, which is a news show for kids in English. But there's a cool difference!

Ffeil is made directly by the news team at BBC Cymru Wales. This means the same people who make the grown-up news also help make Ffeil. Newsround, on the other hand, is made by CBBC.

Ffeil also focuses on news from Wales. It covers local stories and features, as well as news from all over the UK and the world. The reporters and presenters you see on Ffeil also work on other BBC shows. They often contribute to BBC Radio Cymru and the nightly Welsh news show, Newyddion.
