Fifield is a town in Price County, Wisconsin, United States. It is a small community in the northern part of the state. In 2018, about 879 people lived here. The town also includes a smaller community called Fifield and a historic "ghost town" named Coolidge.

A Look Back: The History of Fifield
Fifield started in 1876. It was built where the Wisconsin Central Railroad crossed the south fork of the Flambeau River. This area was once a large northern forest. The town got its name from Sam Fifield. He was a politician and a businessperson. Sam Fifield even served as Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor.
Building and Rebuilding the Town Hall
As more people moved to Fifield for logging, the town grew. A town hall was built in 1882. But in 1893, a big fire swept through Fifield. It burned down the town hall and about 60 other businesses. The very next spring, the town worked hard to rebuild. They built the current town hall with the same size. A carpenter named Theodore Ristin led this rebuilding project.

Fifield is a pretty big town in terms of land area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town covers about 156.5 square miles (405.3 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 149.4 square miles (386.9 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 7.1 square miles (18.4 square kilometers), is water. This means about 4.53% of the town's total area is covered by water.
