About the Drawings

The book has fifty caricatures in total. Most of them are printed in a special way that makes them look like photographs. These are mounted on brown paper. The last two drawings are simpler line drawings on white paper. The cover of the book shows a drawing of a large man with a laurel wreath on his head. Beerbohm said this drawing was meant to show "successful average people." However, some critics thought it looked a bit like Beerbohm himself!
