Filippo Volandri is an Italian tennis coach and a former professional tennis player. He was born on September 5, 1981. Filippo reached his highest singles ranking of world number 25 in July 2007.
He started playing tennis professionally in 1997 and earned almost $4 million in prize money during his career. After retiring as a player in 2016, he became a coach. Since 2021, he has been the captain of the Italian team. He led the team to win two Davis Cups in a row in 2023 and 2024.

Winning His First Titles
Filippo Volandri won the second main title of his career in September 2006. He beat Nicolás Lapentti in the final match of the Sicily International tournament.
Big Wins and Milestones
In 2007, Filippo Volandri had one of the biggest wins of his career at the Rome Masters tournament. He was a "wild card" entry, meaning he got a special invitation to play. He surprised everyone by beating the world's number one player at the time, Roger Federer. Filippo won the match easily, 6–2, 6–4.
After his amazing win, Volandri celebrated by walking around the court and high-fiving fans. He said this victory was not just for him, but for all of Italy. People were very excited because Italy had not had many top male tennis players recently.
Volandri continued his great run by beating Tomáš Berdych, who was ranked number 12 in the world. This made Filippo the first Italian player to reach the semifinals of the Rome Masters since 1978. He eventually lost in the semifinals to Fernando González.
Later in 2007, at the 2007 French Open, Filippo was the 29th seeded player. He made it to the fourth round of this major tournament, which helped him reach his career-high ranking of world number 25.
After this successful period, Volandri faced some challenges. However, he continued to compete. In 2012, he reached the final of the Brasil Open. He also played a lot on the ATP Challenger Tour, which is a level below the main ATP Tour.
On June 23, 2015, Filippo Volandri achieved a special milestone. He won his 300th match at ATP Challenger Tour tournaments. He was only the fourth player ever to reach this many wins on the Challenger Tour.
