History of Fincastle
Fincastle officially became a city on January 25, 1974. The city's name has an interesting history. It comes from a very old county called Fincastle County, Virginia. This old county was actually the first step in creating what we now know as the state of Kentucky back in 1776.

Fincastle is found in the northeastern part of Jefferson County. It is about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown Louisville. It is also about 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Oldham County.
