In 2020, about 6,392 people lived in Finderne. This community is in the southeastern part of Bridgewater, between the towns of Bound Brook and Somerville. Finderne has a mix of older homes, newer buildings, and apartments. It also has areas for businesses and factories. You can find the Middlebrook Crossing industrial park, the Promenade shopping center, and TD Bank Ballpark here. The ballpark is home to the Somerset Patriots baseball team.

One important place in Finderne is the Van Veghten House. This house was built around 1725. It played a role in American history during the American Revolutionary War.

During the winter of 1778–1779, the Van Veghten House was used as the headquarters for Nathanael Greene. He was the Quartermaster General of the United States Army at that time. This means he was in charge of supplies for the army.

The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is important because it is one of the few old mansions left along the Raritan River.
