First Edition is an Australian breakfast television news program shown on Sky News Australia. A breakfast television show is a program that airs in the morning and shares the latest news, weather, and other important information.

The show is currently hosted by Peter Stefanovic. First Edition is one of four main breakfast news programs in Australia. It competes with other popular shows like Sunrise, Today, and News Breakfast. You can watch First Edition every day of the week.

Since 2014, the program has been special because it is broadcast from two different places. One host is in Macquarie Park, a suburb of Sydney. The other host is in Parliament House, Canberra, where the Australian government meets.

The program also connects to another show called AM Agenda at 8:30 AM AEST. AM Agenda talks about politics and current events.

Weekend versions of First Edition became shorter when new shows called Saturday Edition and Sunday Edition started on July 9, 2016. Sometimes, other people like Amy Greenbank, Tom Connell, and Leanne Jones host the show when the main presenters are away.

About First Edition

First Edition is one of the longest-running shows on Sky News. It has been on air since at least 2002. Many different people have hosted the program over the years. These include John Gatfield, Michael Willesee, Jr., Vanessa Grimm, Amber Sherlock, Leigh Hatcher, Susanne Latimore, Nina Stevens, and Terry Willesee.

In September 2018, Brooke Corte left her role as host. She became the main host for evening news on Your Money. Laura Jayes then took over as host of First Edition. In July 2019, Peter Stefanovic became the new co-host, joining Kieran Gilbert.

Special Broadcasts

On November 7, 2014, First Edition was broadcast from an airplane hangar at Sydney Airport. This special broadcast happened because Sky News and Qantas, a big airline, had recently become partners. As part of this partnership, Brooke Corte also presented news updates that were shown on Qantas flights.
