Fisher Stevens (born November 27, 1963) is an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He is known for playing Ben in the movies Short Circuit (1986) and Short Circuit 2 (1988).
Beyond acting, Fisher Stevens is also a talented filmmaker who creates documentaries. He won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for his work on The Cove (2009). He also directed other important documentaries like Crazy Love (2007) and Before the Flood (2016).
You might have seen him in popular films such as Hackers (1995) and Hail, Caesar! (2016). He has also appeared in several films by director Wes Anderson, including The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and Isle of Dogs (2018). Fisher Stevens was born Steven Fisher in 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Sally, was a painter, and his father, Norman, worked with furniture.
He grew up in different parts of Chicago, including Hyde Park and Evanston. He has described himself as a "Jewish kid from Chicago." When he was 13, his parents divorced, and he moved to New York with his mother.
At age 16, Fisher Stevens got his first movie role in the horror film The Burning. He studied at New York University for one year before deciding to focus on acting full-time. He changed his name to "Fisher Stevens" when he joined the Screen Actors Guild because there were already other actors named "Steven Fisher."

Fisher Stevens has also performed in many plays on Broadway and off-Broadway for almost 30 years. He played David in Torch Song Trilogy and took over the main role of Eugene in Brighton Beach Memoirs.
