"Fixer Upper" is a fun song from the 2013 Disney animated movie Frozen. It's sung by Maia Wilson and the voices of the trolls in the film. The song is all about how everyone has a few quirks, but that doesn't mean they aren't great!
How the Song Was Made
The songwriters, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, got the idea for "Fixer Upper" from their own lives!
Kristen shared that when she and Robert first started dating, she used to jokingly call him a "fixer-upper" to her friends. He was living with his parents and didn't have a job yet. But Kristen knew she wanted to marry him. This personal experience inspired the song's main idea.
Robert explained how the song fit into the movie's story. They realized that Kristoff had a special connection with the trolls. This meant Kristoff would bring Anna to meet his "family." The trolls would then misunderstand the situation. They thought Kristoff and Anna were a couple. This led to the song's funny, upbeat style, like a New York cabaret tune.
What Happens in the Song?
The song plays when Kristoff takes Anna to meet his troll family. The trolls had helped Anna before, after Elsa accidentally hurt her. Kristoff hopes the trolls' leader, Pabbie, can help Anna again.
However, the trolls think Anna is Kristoff's girlfriend. They decide to try and marry them right away! The song begins with the trolls asking Anna what she doesn't like about Kristoff. They joke about his "unmanly blondness" or his habits.
Kristoff tries to tell them that Anna is already engaged to someone else. But the trolls don't listen. They go ahead and try to perform a wedding ceremony. Luckily, Kristoff and Anna manage to stop them before they finish the vows.
