Flat Creek is a cool stream located in the southern part of Missouri, a state in the United States. It flows through two counties: Barry and Stone. This creek is a smaller waterway that eventually joins a larger river called the James River.

Flat Creek: A Journey Through Missouri

Flat Creek starts its journey near a town called Washburn. From there, it flows generally towards the northeast. The creek's path is quite interesting! It runs alongside Missouri Route 37, which is a major road in the area.

Where Does Flat Creek Flow?

As it travels, Flat Creek passes through the southeastern part of Cassville. It keeps heading northeast until it meets another small stream called Little Flat Creek. This meeting point is south of McDowell.

After this, Flat Creek turns southeast. It flows past Jenkins and goes under Missouri Route 248. The creek then starts to wind and curve a lot, turning east. It passes under Missouri Route 39 north of Cato.

Reaching Table Rock Lake

The creek continues its winding path eastward. It crosses into Stone County. Finally, Flat Creek reaches its destination: a northern arm of Table Rock Lake. It flows into the lake after passing under Missouri Route 173 north of Cape Fair. Table Rock Lake is a very popular spot for outdoor activities!

What's in a Name?

Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Flat Creek got its name because of the land around it. Near Cassville, where the creek flows, the ground is quite flat. So, people decided to call it "Flat Creek" because of this flat terrain. It's a simple name that tells you something about the area!
