Flaviana's Early Life and School
Flaviana Matata grew up in Shinyanga, Tanzania. She was raised mostly by her father. For her high school education, she went to Kowak Girls Mission Secondary School. After that, she studied electrical engineering at Arusha Technical College. This was before she entered the Miss Universe Tanzania competition.
Journey to Miss Universe 2007
In 2007, Flaviana Matata won the very first Miss Universe Tanzania pageant. This win allowed her to represent Tanzania at the Miss Universe 2007 competition. She was among the top 15 semifinalists and finished in 6th place after the evening gown part of the contest. Flaviana was the first person from Tanzania to compete in Miss Universe. She was also notable for competing with a shaved head, which was unique at the time.
