Flaviana Matata is a famous model and beauty queen from Tanzania. She was born on June 9, 1987. She won the title of Miss Universe Tanzania in 2007. After winning, she represented her country at Miss Universe 2007, where she was one of the top 10 finalists. In 2013, Forbes Africa magazine named her one of the top seven highest-earning models in Africa. In 2017, okay.com also recognized her as one of the Top 100 Women in Africa.

Early Life and School

Flaviana grew up in Shinyanga, Tanzania. Her mother passed away when she was young. Her father raised her.

She went to Kowak Girls Mission Secondary School. Later, she studied electrical engineering at Arusha Technical College. After her studies, she joined the Miss Universe Tanzania competition.

Miss Universe 2007 Competition

In 2007, Flaviana won the very first Miss Universe Tanzania pageant. This win allowed her to represent Tanzania at Miss Universe 2007. She was the first person from Tanzania to compete in this big event.

She also made history by being the first contestant with a shaved head. Flaviana did very well, placing among the top 15 semifinalists. She finished in 6th place after the evening gown part of the competition.

  • In 2016, she won an "Arts And Culture" award from Clouds Fm Malkia Wa Nguvu Awards for her Lavy Products.
  • In 2018, she was honored as "Most Inspirational Woman" at the Global Women Gala.
