Fleming David Mackell (born April 30, 1929 – died October 19, 2015) was a Canadian ice hockey forward. He played for 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). During his career, he helped his teams win the Stanley Cup twice, which is one of the biggest trophies in hockey!

Fleming Mackell's Hockey Journey
Fleming Mackell started his hockey journey with the St. Michael's team, which was connected to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He joined the NHL with the Maple Leafs in 1948. He spent most of his career playing for the Boston Bruins. He retired from the NHL after the 1960 season.
Winning the Stanley Cup
Fleming Mackell won the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs two times. These big wins happened in 1949 and 1951. Imagine winning the championship twice!
Moving to the Boston Bruins
After his second Stanley Cup win, the Maple Leafs traded Mackell to the Boston Bruins. In Boston, he became a top player. For the 1952–53 season, he was named to the NHL First All-Star Team as a centre. He also won the Elizabeth C. Dufresne Trophy in 1953. This award goes to the best Bruins player on their home ice. In 1955, he was chosen as an alternate captain for the Bruins.
A Key Player for the Bruins
Fleming Mackell became a very important player for the Boston Bruins. He helped their offense score many goals in the late 1950s. He was known for his strong skating and scoring goals close to the net. He could also play as a left wing and often took on a defensive role to stop the other team.
In 1957–58, Mackell was the top scorer in the Stanley Cup playoffs, along with his teammate Don McKenney. In 1959, he even led the Boston Bruins on a special exhibition tour in Europe, playing against the New York Rangers.
After the NHL
After retiring from the Boston Bruins and the NHL in 1960, Mackell briefly became a player and coach for the Quebec Aces in the AHL. He later tried out for the Detroit Red Wings but did not join the team.
Family Connections
Fleming Mackell came from a hockey family. His father, Jack Mackell, also played in the NHL for the original Ottawa Senators. Fleming's daughter, JoAnne, is a country rock singer in Toronto. Fleming Mackell passed away on October 19, 2015.
