Foots Creek is a small community in Jackson County, Oregon. It is considered an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. Foots Creek is located along Oregon Route 99. It's near where the Foots Creek stream flows into the Rogue River. On the other side of the Rogue River, you can find Interstate 5 and Valley of the Rogue State Park.
History of Foots Creek
This community has been known by a different name, Bolt, since the early days when pioneers settled there. The stream, Foots Creek, got its name from a miner named O. G. Foot. He explored and searched for valuable minerals along the stream in the 1800s.
A post office, which is a place where mail is handled, was briefly open in this area. It was called Foots Creek and operated from 1878 to 1879. Silas Draper was in charge of the post office during that time.
