The Ford Fairlane was a popular car made by the Ford Motor Company. This car was produced for many years, from 1955 all the way to 1970. The name "Fairlane" actually comes from the name of Henry Ford's own estate, called Fair Lane. This estate was located near Dearborn, Michigan.
Over the years, the Fairlane name was used for different types of cars. It started out as a large, "full-sized" car. But from the 1962 model year onwards, it became a "mid-sized" car.
Fairlane's Early Success
In 1957, something special happened with the Fairlane. Ford managed to sell more cars than Chevrolet that year. This was a big deal because it was the first time Ford had outsold Chevrolet since 1935! For the 1958 model, the Fairlane was updated with new "quad" headlights, meaning it had two headlights on each side.
