The Ford Ka became very popular in Europe, with over 1.5 million cars sold! New versions of the Ka were released in Brazil in 2008 and in Europe in 2009.

First Generation (1996-2008)

The very first Ford Ka models were made from 1996 until 2008. They had a unique, rounded shape that many people liked. These cars were known for being nimble and easy to handle.

Engine Power (First Generation)

The first Ford Ka cars came with different engines. These engines were usually 4-cylinder types. They used a system called electronic multipoint fuel injection. This helps the engine run smoothly.

• 1.0L Duratec (Brazil): This engine had about 65 horsepower.
• 1.3L Duratec (Europe): This engine came in two power levels, around 60 or 70 horsepower.
• 1.6L Duratec (Europe and Brazil): This was the most powerful option, with about 95 horsepower.

Second Generation (2009-2016)

A brand new version of the Ford Ka came out in early 2009. This second generation car was built with help from Fiat. In fact, it shared many technical parts with the Fiat 500 car. This was a big change for the Ka. For the first time, a Diesel engine was available for the Ford Ka. Diesel engines can sometimes be more fuel-efficient.

Engine Power (Second Generation)

The second generation Ford Ka also had different engine choices. These were also 4-cylinder engines.

• 1.2L Duratec: This engine had about 69 horsepower.
• 1.3L Duratorq: This was the diesel engine option, offering about 75 horsepower.
