The First Transit Vans
The very first van to be called "Transit" was the Taunus Transit. It was made in Germany. This van started being built in 1953, but it only got the "Transit" name in 1961. This early model was not sold in the UK. Production of the Taunus Transit stopped in 1965.
Smaller Transit Vans: The Transit Connect
Ford also makes a smaller van called the Transit Connect. This compact van is built in Turkey. It took the place of the Escort van in 2002. It's a great choice for businesses that need a smaller vehicle.
For Passengers: The Tourneo
The Tourneo is a special version of the Transit van. It's designed for carrying people, not just cargo. Think of it like a family car, but much bigger! There's also a passenger version of the smaller Transit Connect, called the Tourneo Connect. Even though it has "Connect" in its name, the Tourneo Connect is actually a different model from the regular Transit Connect.
