The Ford Transit Connect is a smaller type of van that was created by Ford Europe, which is Ford's branch in Europe. This van shares many parts with the popular Ford Focus car.

The first Transit Connect vans were made to replace older, smaller delivery vans like those based on the Ford Escort and Ford Fiesta. In places like Canada and the United States, the Transit Connect was a brand new kind of vehicle for Ford. Before it, the closest vehicle of its size was the Ford Aerostar, which stopped being made in 1997.

The Transit Connect Wagon is made to be a mix of a useful utility van and a comfortable compact car. For North America, the Transit Connect was Ford's first small passenger van since they stopped making the Ford Freestar in 2007.
