Forks of Cacapon is a small, unincorporated community in Hampshire County, West Virginia. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a name but no official local government like a city or town.

This community gets its name because it's located where two rivers meet. This meeting point is called a confluence. Here, the North River flows into the Cacapon River. Forks of Cacapon is also a busy spot for roads, as West Virginia Route 29, West Virginia Route 127, and Frank Haines Road all meet there.

A Bit of History

The community was first known as Forks of Capon. This was the name of its local post office. The post office operated from the mid-1800s until 1910. John Loy was the last person to be in charge of the post office. Even though the old post office was called "Forks of Capon," today the community is known as Forks of Cacapon.
