Former Casino of Toledo facts for kids
The building known as the former Casino of Toledo in Toledo, Spain, is a really interesting old building. Its official name is actually the Center of Artists and Industrialists. It was built in a style called Eclecticism. This means its architect, Felipe Trigo, mixed different styles together, like a creative chef mixing ingredients!
The building has a unique look. It combines ideas from the Renaissance period, especially in how its front (facade) was designed. It also uses elements from the Mudéjar style, which you can see in the way bricks are used. This mix makes it special and beautiful.

What Does the Building Look Like?
The building has a square shape, like a box. It has four floors, which means it's quite tall! There's also a tower that stands out. This tower is at a special angled corner of the building and is where the main entrance is located.
Materials Used in Construction
The outside of the building uses many different materials. Strong granite was used for the bottom part (the plinth), the main entrance, the corners, and for some decorative parts. Bricks were used for the windows and doors, for decorative trims, and for the small tower. Other parts of the walls were built with masonry, which is a mix of stones and mortar.
When Was It Built?
The building wasn't all built at once. It was constructed in two main stages. The oldest parts were built in the 1920s. Later, more sections were added in the 1960s. So, it's a building that grew over time!
A New Purpose for the Building
In 2015, a Saudi Sheikh bought part of this historic building. He planned to turn that section into a center for Islamic interpretation. This shows how old buildings can find new uses and continue to be important parts of a city's life.
