After 1805, the North West Company joined with another company, the XY Company. Fort Fork was then replaced by Fort Dunvegan, which was further up the river.
What Remains of Fort Fork Today?
Today, you won't find any buildings left from Fort Fork. The old fort has disappeared over time. However, the spot where it once stood is an archaeological site. This means experts can study the ground for clues about the past. There is a semi-circular dip in the ground and a pile of stones called a cairn that mark the spot.
