The Fort Garry Brewing Company Ltd is a company in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. They are known for making different kinds of beverages.

History of Fort Garry Brewing

The Fort Garry Brewing Company has a long history. It was first bought by the Hoeschen family in 1930. They ran the company for many years until 1960, when it was sold to a larger company called Molson. It then became known as Molson's Fort Garry Brewery Ltd.

In 1990, Molson joined with another company, and the Fort Garry location was closed. But the story didn't end there! In 1994, Richard D. Hoeschen, whose family used to own the company, decided to bring it back to life.

At that time, Fort Garry Brewing was the only small, independent beverage maker in Manitoba. Richard Hoeschen originally planned for their drinks to be sold only in large containers called kegs. Before opening, he hired Gary De Pape as a master beverage maker. Together, they created the company's first popular drink, Fort Garry Dark. Richard D. Hoeschen passed away in 2002.

In 2003, Fort Garry Brewing joined with another Winnipeg company called Two Rivers Brewing Company. They kept the Fort Garry name but added some of Two Rivers' popular drinks to their selection.

Later, in 2004, Fort Garry Brewing made an agreement with another company, Agassiz Brewing, to help store and sell their products. However, Fort Garry Brewing stopped making that specific product in 2010.

Since 2005, Fort Garry's beverages have been sold in Manitoba and Alberta.

In 2007, Fort Garry started making a special drink called Nubru Blend. This was the first gluten-free beer made in Manitoba. It was produced for another company called FarmPure Beverages. In October of that same year, Fort Garry Brewing Company joined with the Russell Brewing Company. This made them part of a bigger group called Russell Breweries Inc.

From 2008 to 2010, the company created a special drink for Winnipeg's Folklorama festival. It was called "Folklorama Beer."

In 2012, Fort Garry Brewing Company teamed up with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, a local baseball team. They made a drink called "Angry Fish" to help promote the team's new logo. As of 2015, Dan Geddes is the main beverage maker at Fort Garry.
