History of Fort Jennings
The first people started settling in the area of Fort Jennings around the year 1850. The village gets its name from a pioneer named Virginia Hellman. She built a fort nearby in 1812. Later, in 1881, Fort Jennings officially became an incorporated village. This means it gained its own local government.
