Foster Junction is a small, historic place in Ashland County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It's what we call an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. This community was named after a man named George E. Foster.

The Story of Foster Junction

How Foster Junction Began

Foster Junction was started in 1910. It was founded by the Mellon Lumber Company. George E. Foster was a partner in this company. They likely created the community to support their lumber business. This often happened in areas with lots of trees, where workers needed places to live.

Why Foster Junction Disappeared

Even though it was founded, Foster Junction didn't grow very much. It "failed to thrive," which means it didn't become a successful or lasting community. Many of its buildings were taken apart. These parts were then moved to a nearby town called Mellen. By the 1930s, Foster Junction had no people living there anymore. It became a ghost of its former self.
