Fouhren facts for kids
Fouhren (pronounced FOO-ren) is a small, quiet town located in the northeastern part of Luxembourg. It's part of a larger area called the Tandel commune. Think of a commune like a local government area, similar to a township or a small district in other countries.
Fouhren's Place in Luxembourg
Fouhren is situated in a beautiful region of Luxembourg, known for its green landscapes and peaceful atmosphere. Luxembourg itself is a small country in Western Europe, bordered by Belgium, France, and Germany. Even though it's small, it has a rich history and unique administrative divisions.
What is a Commune?
In Luxembourg, a commune is the smallest administrative division. It's like a local government unit that manages services for the people living there, such as schools, roads, and local events. Fouhren is one of the towns within the Tandel commune.
How Fouhren Became Part of Tandel
For a long time, Fouhren was its own commune. It was located in an area called the canton of Vianden. A canton is another type of administrative division in Luxembourg, larger than a commune, grouping several communes together.
However, on January 1, 2006, something changed. Fouhren joined together with another commune called Bastendorf. This joining created a brand new, larger commune named Tandel. This kind of merger happens when smaller areas decide to combine their resources and administration to work more efficiently. So, now Fouhren is an important part of the Tandel commune.
