Foxbar is a busy area in Paisley, Scotland. It is located near the beautiful Gleniffer Braes and not far from Paisley town centre. Foxbar has grown a lot over the last 100 years and is now one of the biggest housing areas in Paisley.
Local leaders, like Renfrewshire Council, have put a lot of effort into improving Foxbar. Today, the area has many community centres, public parks, and places for people to gather and enjoy themselves.

Exploring Foxbar's Areas
Foxbar is made up of several smaller sections. These include areas often called the "top end" and "bottom end," as well as "Spam Valley" or "Meikleriggs," and the "Green Road End." All these parts of Foxbar are home to many people.
Each area has a mix of homes owned by people and homes managed by the local council. In 2022, Renfrewshire Council invested in Durrockstock Park. This led to a brand new, modern playground being built for everyone to enjoy.
Homes in Foxbar
The homes in Foxbar include those owned by individuals, those managed by housing associations, and those owned by the local council. Recently, there has been a lot of work done on both private and social housing. This includes building new housing estates and updating older apartment buildings.
Foxbar's Tall Buildings
Foxbar used to have five very tall apartment buildings, each with 14 floors. These buildings were located near Durrockstock Park. They were named:
- Oliphant Court
- Marmion Court
- Heriot Court
- Montrose Court
- Waverley Court
Waverley Court was taken down in 1996. Then, Marmion, Montrose, and Heriot Courts were demolished in 2004. Oliphant Court was updated in recent years and is now looked after by the Paisley South Housing Association.

Foxbar has many services and local shops that serve its large population.
Schools in Foxbar
Foxbar has three primary schools: Heriot, St. Pauls, and Brediland. There is also one secondary school, Gleniffer High.
Shopping and Food
Foxbar has many shops for a modern housing area. You can find several local newsagents and grocery stores. There are also post office services, a pharmacy, and a local butcher. This makes it easy for residents to find what they need.
In recent years, L.A. Studios has opened to offer hair and beauty services.
Many takeaway restaurants have also set up businesses in Foxbar. Residents have a good choice with two Chinese takeaways (Wok Inn and Happy Valley), an Indian takeaway, and a shop selling fish and chips, pizza, and kebabs (Marco's).
Community Places
Foxbar has three community centres and one library. The main Foxbar community centre is located below the library on Amochrie Road and Ivanhoe Road. The Youth Drop In centre is on Spey Avenue. The resource centre is also on Amochrie Road.
Getting Around Foxbar
Foxbar is served by two McGill's buses, making it easy to travel.
- The 61 bus goes from Paisley town centre to the top of Foxbar, passing by Gleniffer High School.
- The 17 bus (which used to be the 60) travels from Foxbar Heriot Avenue to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. It also stops at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Paisley town centre.
The 61 bus takes a circular route around Foxbar. It travels clockwise along Brediland Road, Amochrie Road, and Foxbar Road, then back down Brediland Road towards Paisley. As of March 2023, a return ticket from Paisley to Foxbar costs £2.50.
Fun Places to Visit
Popular places in Foxbar include Durrockstock Park, which is a special Local Nature Reserve. There is also a lovely walkway that leads to the beautiful Gleniffer Braes.
