Foyleside Shopping Centre is a large shopping centre located in Derry, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It was built in the early 1990s and first opened its doors in 1995. The main goal of Foyleside was to create a central place for shopping in the North West of Ireland.

The shopping centre is right in the middle of Derry city. Even though it's not directly on the riverbank, it offers views of the River Foyle.

Future Plans for Foyleside

Expanding the Shopping Centre

In 2014, there were exciting plans announced for Foyleside Shopping Centre. Developers wanted to add a brand new section to the centre. This new part would include a lot more space for shops. It would also feature a large cinema with nine screens. On top of that, there would be new office spaces.

New Jobs and Investment

These plans could create many new jobs. About 500 jobs would be for construction workers building the new section. Once it's finished, around 300 permanent jobs would be available. This big project would cost about £100 million.

Relocating the Railway Station

There was also talk about moving the Londonderry railway station. The Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy, suggested moving the station. The idea was to move it to the east side of the Peace Bridge. The Peace Bridge is a famous landmark in Derry, which opened on June 25, 2011. Moving the station could make it easier for people to get to Foyleside.
