The Story of Fozzy
How Fozzy Started
Fozzy began as a cover band in 1999. They were first called Fozzy Osbourne, which was a fun play on the name of singer Ozzy Osbourne. The band was put together by Rich Ward. He found different musicians to play with each week. In 1999, Ward met Chris Jericho in San Antonio, Texas. This happened after a wrestling show. Ward then invited Jericho to join the band.
The Moongoose McQueen Story
In 2000, Chris Jericho hurt his ankle badly. He could not wrestle for four months. During this time, he rejoined Fozzy and became their lead singer. He used a special character called Moongoose McQueen. As part of the band's act, Jericho pretended that Moongoose McQueen and Chris Jericho were different people. When he was interviewed as Moongoose, he stayed in character. He acted like he did not know who Chris Jericho was. On the other hand, Chris Jericho would say he was a "huge fan" of both Moongoose and Fozzy.
First Album and New Music
Fozzy soon started working on their first album. On October 24, 2000, they released their first studio album. It was called Fozzy. This album featured cover songs from other famous bands. These included songs from Dio, Krokus, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, and Judas Priest. The band was set to release their sixth studio album, Do You Wanna Start a War, on July 22, 2014.
