Francis Brown (born February 3, 1982) is a well-known American football coach. He used to play as a cornerback. Today, he is the head coach for Syracuse University. Before this, he was the defensive backs coach at Georgia.

Early Life
Fran Brown grew up in Camden, New Jersey. He went to Camden High School. There, he was a quarterback and set a school record. He threw 47 touchdown passes during his time there.
Playing Football
After high school, Brown changed his position to cornerback. He played for Western Carolina. He became a top player and team captain. Later, he joined the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. This was for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Coaching Journey
Coaching at Temple
Fran Brown started his coaching career at Paul VI Catholic High School. In 2011, he joined Temple University. He worked as the Assistant Director of Internal Operations. In 2012, he became a graduate assistant. Then, in 2013, he became the defensive backs coach. He held this role until 2016. That year, he also became an associate head coach.
After the 2014 recruiting season, Brown was recognized. He was named a top recruiter in the American Athletic Conference. He helped bring many talented players to Temple.
Coaching at Baylor
Brown then moved to Baylor University. He worked there in 2017 and 2018. He was the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach. During his time at Baylor, he was known as their best recruiter.
Second Time at Temple
After the 2018 season, Brown wanted to be the head coach at Temple. The job went to someone else, but he was hired as assistant head coach. He was also a co-defensive coordinator. However, the new head coach left after only 17 days. Brown interviewed for the head coach job again. It went to another coach, but Brown stayed on the staff.
Coaching at Rutgers
In 2020, Rutgers University brought back coach Greg Schiano. He hired Fran Brown to be the team's secondary coach.
Coaching at Georgia
On February 18, 2022, Brown joined the coaching staff at Georgia. He helped the team win the National Championship. They defeated TCU in the final game. In 2023, he was named the #1 national recruiter by 247Sports. This shows how good he is at finding new talent.
Becoming Head Coach at Syracuse
On November 28, 2023, Fran Brown became the 31st head coach of Syracuse University. He was chosen because he is very good at recruiting players. He has strong connections in South Jersey, which is an important area for Syracuse to find new players.

Family Life
Fran Brown is married to Teara Brown. They have three children together. His son, Fran Brown Jr., also plays football at Syracuse.
