Francesco Negri was an Italian photographer who lived from 1841 to 1924. He was known for his beautiful artistic photos. But he was also a clever inventor! He found new ways to take pictures, like very close-up shots of tiny things using a method called photomicroscopy. He also helped create the telephoto lens, which lets you take clear pictures of things far away.
Francesco Negri even experimented with early colour photography. Besides photography, he loved studying botany (plants) and local history. He wrote important books about these topics. He also served as the Mayor of Casale Monferrato, a city in Italy. Before all this, he worked as a lawyer.
