History of Francesville
Francesville was established in 1853. This happened when a new railroad line was built through the area. The town got its name from Frances Brooks. She was the daughter of an important railroad official. A post office has been open in Francesville since the town was founded in 1853.
A special building, the Mallon Building, was recognized in 1999. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes important historical sites across the country.
