Life Story of Frane Milčinski
Frane Milčinski was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1914. He was the third child of Fran Milčinski, who was also a writer and a judge. During World War II, Frane was held in a camp called Gonars concentration camp. He was married to Jana Milčinski, who was a writer and journalist too.
His Creative Work
Frane Milčinski started working in theater and radio when he was young. He was very talented and worked as a poet, a writer of funny stories (humorist), and an actor. He also directed films and wrote stories especially for children.

Kekec Film Success
In 1951, he helped write the movie Kekec. He also wrote the famous song for the film, "Dobra volja je najbolja" (Good Mood is the Best). This movie was the first Slovenian film to win an international award. It won a Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival in 1952, in the children's film category.
Other Important Awards
- In 1959, Milčinski won the Levstik Award for his children's story Zvezdica Zaspanka (The Sleepy Little Star). This award is given to Slovenian authors for their best children's books.
- In 1975, he received the Grand Prešeren Award. This is a very important award in Slovenia. He won it for all his great work in radio, television, film, and literature throughout his life.
Frane Milčinski's Legacy
To honor Frane Milčinski, an award called the Ježek Award was created. This award is given every year since 1989. It celebrates creative achievements in radio and television in Slovenia. The national public broadcasting company, Radiotelevizija Slovenija, gives out this award.
