Early Life and Comedy Start
Frank Shuster was born in Toronto, Ontario. His family had moved to Canada from another country. He spent some of his childhood in Niagara Falls. When he was older, his family moved back to Toronto. Frank went to Harbord Collegiate Institute for high school. This is where he met Johnny Wayne in 1930.
They quickly started performing funny skits together. They did shows at school talent contests. They kept performing when they both went to the University of Toronto.
Wayne and Shuster's Rise
By the early 1940s, Wayne and Shuster began performing on local radio. During World War II, they joined the Canadian Army. They entertained Canadian troops with their comedy. They also performed on a radio show called The Army Show.
After the war, the duo became very popular. They appeared regularly on CBC radio and television. They were a familiar sight on Canadian TV from the 1940s to the 1980s. They even appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in the United States 66 times! This was a huge achievement.
Frank Shuster and Johnny Wayne worked together for 50 years. Their comedy partnership lasted until Johnny Wayne passed away in 1990.
Awards and Recognition
In 1996, Frank Shuster was given a special award. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. This is one of the highest honors a Canadian citizen can receive.

Frank Shuster was married to Ruth Shuster. They had two children, Rosie and Steve. Their daughter, Rosie Shuster, became a comedy writer. She wrote for popular TV shows like Saturday Night Live.
Frank Shuster was also the cousin of Joe Shuster. Joe Shuster was famous for co-creating the superhero Superman.
