It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. It's also a "census-designated place" (CDP), which is a special area the government uses to collect information for the census. Frankstown was first counted as a CDP in the 2020 census.
Where is Frankstown Located?
Frankstown is found in the middle part of Blair County. It sits on the western side of Frankstown Township. A main road, U.S. Route 22, runs along its southeastern edge.
This road can take you about 2.5 miles (4 km) southwest to Hollidaysburg. If you travel east on the same road, you'll reach Huntingdon, which is about 25 miles (40 km) away. The community and the surrounding township are named after the Frankstown Branch Juniata River. This river flows past the CDP, just south of U.S. Route 22.
