Fred Beebe (born December 31, 1879 – died October 30, 1957) was an American professional baseball player. He was a talented pitcher who played for several teams in Major League Baseball. He played for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cleveland Indians.
Playing Days: Fred Beebe's Baseball Career
Fred Beebe loved baseball from a young age. He played for his high school team at Hyde Park High School in Chicago. Later, he continued playing baseball at the University of Illinois.
Beebe made his professional debut on April 17, 1906. He played in Major League Baseball for many years, from 1906 to 1916. In his very first year, Beebe showed how good he was. He led all of Major League Baseball with 171 strikeouts. A strikeout is when a pitcher throws three strikes to a batter, and the batter misses or doesn't swing.
Over his career, Fred Beebe won 62 games and lost 83. After he stopped playing in the big leagues, he became a coach. He served as the head coach for the Indiana Hoosiers college baseball team.
