Frederick William Hammond (born December 27, 1960) is a famous American gospel singer, bass guitar player, and music producer. He is known as one of the most popular people in modern gospel music. Fred Hammond often mixes different music styles in his songs, like R&B, hip-hop, and disco.

Fred Hammond's Musical Journey
Fred Hammond has been a big part of the gospel music world for many years. He has been a member of the gospel group Commissioned and also has a very successful solo career. He has won and been nominated for many important awards, including the Grammy, Dove, and Stellar awards, both for his singing and for producing music for others.
Starting Out in Music
Fred first became known when he played bass guitar for another gospel group called The Winans. In 1985, he became one of the first six members of the group Commissioned. He helped create 10 of the group's 12 albums.
After his time with Commissioned, he became even more famous in the gospel community. He sold millions of albums with his own music group, Radical For Christ.
Reunions and Producing for Others
In 2002, Fred Hammond rejoined Commissioned for a special album called Commissioned Reunion Live. He worked with original members like Keith Staten and Marvin Sapp.
Fred has also produced songs for other artists. For example, he produced "Make Me Like the Moon" for Chanté Moore and Kenny Lattimore's album Uncovered/Covered. He also performed with Sean Combs on an album that was not released.
