Fred Matua was born in Wilmington, California. He attended Banning High School in Wilmington. In 2000, during his junior year, his high school team won the LA City 4A Championship. This was a big achievement for him and his team.
College Football Career
Fred played college football for the USC Trojans. He was a key player for the team. In 2005, he was recognized as an All-American guard. This means he was considered one of the best college football players in the country at his position.
Professional Football Journey
Fred Matua was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 2006 NFL draft. The draft is where professional teams choose new players from college.
