Fred Stamps (born December 10, 1980) is an American former professional football player. He was a slotback in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Stamps played for the Montreal Alouettes and the Edmonton Eskimos. He officially retired as an Edmonton Eskimo.
Fred Stamps was first signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 2004. He played college football at UL Lafayette. Stamps also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens.

Fred Stamps grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to George Washington Carver High School. He was part of the class of 2000.
College Sports Career
Fred Stamps played for the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns from 2000 to 2003. He was a talented athlete. Besides football, Stamps also played track and field and baseball in college.
Professional Football Journey
National Football League Teams
In 2004, Fred Stamps started his professional career. He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers. This happened after he was not chosen in the NFL draft. After leaving the 49ers, Stamps spent some time with other teams. He was on the practice squads for the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Playing in the CFL: Edmonton Eskimos

Moving to the Montreal Alouettes
On January 16, 2015, Stamps was traded. He went to the Montreal Alouettes. This trade was in exchange for another player, Kenny Stafford. Fred Stamps was released from the Alouettes on January 25, 2016.

After playing for many years, Fred Stamps decided to retire. He spent three years as a free agent. Then, he signed a special one-day contract. This allowed him to officially retire as an Edmonton Eskimo. This was a way to honor his time with the team.
