A Look Back: Fredericksburg's History
Fredericksburg became an official city on December 18, 1894. It got its name from Frederick Padden, who first planned out the village way back in 1856. A famous person from Fredericksburg's past was Dr. William S. Pitts. He was a doctor and also a composer who wrote the well-known song, "The Church in the Wildwood." He even served as the city's mayor!
